Project: From
Black to
Belonging

Busy lives, two kids, a chef in the kitchen — and a need for a space that finally felt like them.

This home wasn’t missing space
— it was missing soul.

Transforming your house into your home

We reimagined the space to reflect the family’s warmth, roots, and rhythm.

The kitchen, once dark and disconnected, became a place of joy by rethinking functionality, storage, and materials.

She’s a chef. They’re hosts at heart.

Together, we shaped a home where Brazilian heritage meets the global memories of an expat life — and where friends and family are always welcome.

After
"Daria brought exactly what we’re missing into our project: A sharp external eye keen to help us understand what we wanted, patience to help us test and clarify ideas while gently guiding us to something tangible, and stamina to move through the ups and downs of the execution, ensuring delivery was in line with the plan while proposing adaptations that were reasonable and consistent to what we wanted to achieve! Can’t recommend enough!!!"

Disconnected, not serving them

A dark, disconnected kitchen that didn’t reflect the family’s warmth. An office that struggled to support focus, and a guest toilet reduced to a purely functional afterthought.

Understanding needs

We looked closely at how the home was used day to day - where storage fell short, how spaces flowed, and what each family member needed from them. Through conversation and exploration, material and colour preferences naturally emerged.

How it feels now

A home that invites people in; calm for daily routines, generous when friends arrive. Brazilian warmth meets an expat life of collected memories, with room for everyone.
